Tributes and Condolences
To my RCC partner...  / Mitchell McIntire (Friend/Fellow Reporter )
Alex and I were paired up at RCC for what was to be an award winning news story...I met him for the shoot and realized at once that he was someone to listen to, to learn from, and to collaborate with.  While going through a cancer trial in my own family, Alex was there to hear me vent, to listen, and to explain.  I will never forget the support he gave me in my time of need.  We completed several other news stories together, each with there own hilarious encounters and lessons experienced; including getting kicked out of several Wal-Mart parking lots.  After the semester was over, I had met his family, edited news stories with him late into the night.  He always joked that I should marry his sister so we could hang out more.  I visited him the night before he moved away to Montana where we talked baseball as usual and shared a glance at some of his prized autographs, that was the last I saw him.  I was sad to see him go up North, but knowing he was onward to his dream, I couldn't have been happier.  His passing came as a shock to me to say the least, but he'll live on as one of the most influential people in my life, no doubt about it.
Sad to get the news!  / Jennifer King (Childhood friend )
I hadn't seen Alex since I graduated from high school a few years ahead of him. We lived on the same block as kids for a few years, and after he moved to Arizona he would come back during the summer to visit his grandmother and we'd always get together. Since I was a couple of years older than him, we drifted apart in high school (after he moved back to Riverside), but I have so many fond memories of those days gone by. I wish I had known of the obviously wonderful things Alex had done during the past fifteen years - I'm so sad to learn this now as he has left us, but I'm also very proud to see what he's done. My sincere condolences to the Perkics. - Jen King
Alex was an excellent student  / Allan Lovelace (Former professor )
Alex was one of our best Telecommunications students at RCC. I always show his story about California's three strikes law to my classes as an example of the high quality work produced by our students. That story won several awards. We'll miss Alex.

I am sorry for your loss. His memory will remain in the heart of all who knew him.

As we say in Japan, he is in heaven surrounded by the lotus flowers.
Alex - A man for all seasons  / Janine Marshall (CS group member )

When I read the news that Alex had died it hit me like a sledgehammer - so great was the impact that this fine young man had on me, during the short time I have known him. It is even more remarkable when you consider that we never actually met

Alex had a remarkable personality - it shone through the very words he typed on the chondrosarcoma support group site. You didn't need to meet him to know that you were in the presence of a man of integrity - a man who was willing and able to admit he was less than perfect (I listened to the recording of his church sermon) - a man who trusted unequivocally in God - and knew with an absolute certaintity that he was part of God's plan; a man who loved and adored his Mom and family, and his beautiful wife and children, and would have laid his life down for any one of them, had it ever become necessary. You didn't need to sit eyeball to eyeball with Alex to see the hard earned pride he had for his career and to hear the sheer joy he experienced when he achieved his dream job - because, like I said, it shone out of the page he typed on, it shone from his very being.

Oh Alex, you will be missed by many - far closer and greater than me. I fear for their pain, because as I write through my tears, feeling so miserable at your loss, I can only glimpse at their grief. Thank you for touching my life. I will never forget you. You are a man for all seasons.

I came across this website through a google search regarding chondrosarcoma. I was diagnoised with stage 2 condrosarcoma in April of this year and underwent surgery to remove 2 of my ribs and a small portion of my lung. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband due to this afwul cancer, and my prayers go out to you and your children. Rest assured Alex is in a better place now with no cancer treatments/radiation or tears. And he will be waiting for you at the gate when you go to meet him.

Amy, I will pray today and forever for you and your children. Your husband looked so full of life. I know not having him around is painful. He should be there to spend his life with you and his children. I know that you guys will reunite one day. I have been going back and forth to the doctor to rule out Multiple Myeloma. I have been prayerful and so far things have been looking up for me. I know that he is in a wonderful place. Free from the pain and suffering that cancer does to your body. May he live on in his children and in your heart. God Bless you and Keep you.    Close

Scott and I were discussing stories if the neighborhood with family we are visiting in Seattle from Phoenix.  We were talking about Alex, Andre and Amanda.  I came upstairs and decided to "Google Gretchen's name and shocked and saddened to learn if Alex's death from cancer.  I know Lisa and Trace "y" will also be shocked and saddened,

It is wonderful to know that he was happily married with two children and a supportive family.

Our sincerest condolences to all of you.
